The US Senate passed a bill offering to increase security assistance to Ukraine up to $300 million.
This is stated in the Facebook of the Embassy of Ukraine in the United States.
According to diplomats, these funds are incorporated in the draft law "On the US Budget for 2020 for the needs of national defense." The amount of aid by $50 million exceeds the appropriations of the current year.
The document proposes to send $ 100 million out of a total amount of $300 million for lethal weapons.
"It is proposed to expand the direction of US assistance in strengthening the defense capability of the Armed Forces of Ukraine by including coastal defenses, anti-ship missiles, and systems that enhance the effectiveness of troop control, in particular, air defense and coastal defense," the report said.
For the law to enter into force, it must be approved by the US House of Representatives and signed by President Donald Trump.
As reported by Apostrof, the United States is ready to provide Ukraine with lethal weapons not only within the framework of financing accepted by Congress, but also as part of direct purchases by Ukraine itself.
