On Wednesday, March 26, a shooting occurred in the Obolonskyi district of Kyiv. An ambulance took the man in serious condition, and the attacker was quickly detained by law enforcement officers.
This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv police.
"The police detained the attacker who committed the shooting in the Obolon district of the capital. As a result of the incident, a local resident was injured. He was hospitalized in serious condition," the report says.
They said that at 2:35 p.m., the police received a report that an unknown citizen had shot a local resident several times on Yordanska Street, after which he fled.
An investigative and operational team, operational officers, and a dog handler with a service dog were sent there.
At the scene, police found a 48-year-old victim with head injuries. Emergency medical personnel took him to a hospital in serious condition. During an inspection of the scene, spent shell casings were found.
In connection with this, a special police operation was introduced in the city and all police units were thrown into the search for the shooter. As a result, thanks to coordinated actions, the police found the attacker's car and detained him.
It is known that the shooter is a 52-year-old local resident. Investigations are ongoing with him, establishing the motives and all the circumstances of the incident.
Law enforcement officers initiated criminal proceedings under Part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine "Hooliganism with the use of weapons."
