An unusual photo of a Kyiv funicular (a steep slope railroad) was posted online. The unique transport in the capital was filmed from a bird's eye view.
The exclusive photos were published on the page "Spraga: it is interesting in Kyiv" in Facebook.
"Kyiv funicular from an unusual angle," reads the caption to the photo.
It is worth adding that Kyiv's funicular is a unique transportation system that has been connecting the Upper Town with Podil since 1905. Kyiv's funicular became the second in Ukraine after the one in Odesa. The length of the route is 222 meters, although at the time of its opening it was shorter and only reached Borychevyi Tik. Until the 1930s, the funicular was a part of the city's tram network. It got its modern look in 1984. A general reconstruction was carried out at that time. New lobbies were built and decorated with stained-glass windows by Ukrainian artists V. Zadorozhnyi and M. Shkaraputa.
Kyiv funicular is recognized as an architectural monument and the safest public transportation in the capital. Over its 100-year history, it has had only one accident with no casualties.
