Merkel pressures Putin to act on Poland-Belarus standoff

On Thursday, November 11, Germany's outgoing Chancellor Angela Merkel has urged Russian PresidentVladimir Putin to help resolve the ongoing migrant standoff between Poland and Belarus and addressed the security situation in Ukraine, press service of the Federal Government of Germanyreports.

The call comes a day after a previous one, on November 10, during which Merkel asked the Russian leader to act on the matter, according to her spokesman, Steffen Seibert.

During the latter conversation, Angela Merkel raised the topic of the security situation on the Ukrainian borders and in Donbas, and called on Russian President to advance the negotiations in Normandy format and proper implementation of the Minsk agreements for the peaceful resolution of the conflict.
