Denmark signed a security agreement with Ukraine and announced a deadline for the transfer of F-16s

The Danish government, which transferred all its artillery to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, has announced a new package of military aid to Ukraine worth almost $250 million and also announced the signing of a 10-year security agreement with Ukraine.

This is reported by Ekstra Bladet.

Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen emphasized that Denmark is one of the countries that support Ukraine the most. According to her, Copenhagen has spent DKK 33 billion in aid to Ukraine.

"Danish government has adopted another aid package for Ukraine. Denmark is sending a very clear signal that its support for Ukraine is unwavering," Frederiksen said.

She emphasized that the new aid package for Ukraine will be expensive.

"Ukraine can count on Denmark's support for the next ten years. The same applies to a number of other countries. Freedom has its own price," the Prime Minister stated.

In his turn, Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen said that the cost of the new aid package is DKK 1.7 billion (about $247 million). He noted that the initiative is being implemented in cooperation with other allies, including the Netherlands and the Czech Republic. The minister also added that preliminary funding for military support has been allocated until 2028. Poulsen added that the first Danish shipment of F-16 fighter jets will arrive in Ukraine this summer. However, the minister said he could not say exactly when this would happen.

Denmark also signed an agreement with Ukraine to provide security guarantees.

"This is the most serious situation in the field of security policy since the end of the Cold War. And the Danish government cannot ignore how important it is for Ukraine to get the military equipment it needs. If we do not stand together, Ukraine will not survive, and then potentially Europe will not survive either," said Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen.

The agreement provides that Denmark will support Ukraine in the military and other spheres for 10 years. It should help support Ukraine's ability to defend itself against Russia and deter possible Russian attacks in the future.

Earlier we reported that Sweden will provide combat boats to Ukraine in an aid package worth € 630 million.
