The US Congress has pledged to assist Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression.
This is reported by The Hill.
House Intelligence Chair Mike Turner said that the issue would be the top issue on the agenda when Congress resumes work in April.
House Speaker Mike Johnson has made it clear that assistance to Ukraine will be the next priority after the passage of bills to fund the federal government.
Turner expressed confidence that the bill providing aid to Kyiv will receive broad support in Congress.
"I believe this is going to have overwhelming support in Congress, and we’ll put a bill on the president’s desk," Turner said.
The bill is expected to be approved by members of the Republican Party. Turner emphasized that there is already significant and very strong support for Ukraine among Republicans and the American society as a whole.
Republican Michael McCaul, Chairman, US House Committee on Foreign Affairs, said that Rep. Mike Johnson intends to bring the Ukraine aid bill to a vote after Catholic Easter.
US assistance to Ukraine is aimed at strengthening its defense and economy. The United States has already provided significant support. The additional funding provided in the bill will allow Ukraine to continue to resist Russian aggression and save its country.
Earlier, we reported that House of Representatives of the U.S. Congress will introduce its own bill to help Ukraine.
