Ukraine will receive additional F-16 fighters, says NATO chief of staff in Europe

Ukraine will receive even more additional F-16 fighter-bombers than those received in the summer of 2024.

This was stated by the Supreme Allied Commander Europe, American General Christopher Cavoli, at a hearing in the US Senate Armed Services Committee.

He noted that Ukraine already has several F-16s, and the pilots have undergone special training.

"There are even more F-16s that are being prepared for dispatch. Even more pilots are in the process of training, I can tell you their number in the closed part of the hearing. They are working. The planes are in service, and they are flying every day," Cavoli said.

The commander-in-chief noted that none of the F-16s in Ukraine were delivered from the United States. They were mostly fighters from Northern European countries: the Netherlands and Denmark.

He also reported that all F-16 pilots have Ukrainian citizenship.

"They were trained in different places: some in Romania, some in the Netherlands, some in Arizona," added the NATO Supreme Allied Commander.

As Apostrophe wrote, the first F-16 fighters were delivered to Ukraine last summer. They are already being actively used to shoot down Russian missiles during massive shelling.

We also wrote that as part of the president's task, Ukraine will strengthen the Air Force and create a separate vertical in the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff, which will be focused on the development of aviation.
