Andriy Kovalenko, Head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, denied information spread on social networks that the arrest of former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhny was planned in 2023.
Kovalenko commented on these rumors on his Telegram channel.
"Of course, no SBU stormed any General Staff in 2023 with the aim of arresting Zaluzhny. These are "insider" rumors in the style of rumors about the "death" of Zaluzhny, Budanov, Syrsky, which were regularly launched earlier," Kovalenko wrote.
According to him, the main catch of such accusations is that the refutation must come from state figures or structures, and thus such accusations can partially spread.
"That's why the question is whether the SBU or Zaluzhny should refute something. And we, in principle, do too. But I see how it was spread, that's why I react," Kovalenko noted.
Earlier, the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council, Andriy Kovalenko, warned about the possible preparation of the Russian occupation army for a new attempt at a breakthrough at the front.
