Sybiha: The assumption that Russia will win the war is false

Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha called the general assumption that Russia will win the war false. It is based on the widespread tendency among foreign analysts to underestimate Ukraine and overestimate Russia's forces.

This is stated in a statement by the head of the foreign ministry, which was distributed by his press service.

Sybiga noted that the Ukrainian military continues to resist the brutal attacks of the occupiers and hold the front line against larger enemy forces.

Despite the fact that the situation at the front remains tense and difficult, Russia has not managed to break through the front and achieve strategic success in any direction.

" The general assumption that Russia will win the war is false. It is based on a widespread tendency among foreign analysts to underestimate Ukraine and overestimate Russia. This approach has been proven wrong many times, but some commentators continue to fall into the same trap," the minister emphasized.

He noted that in reality, the Russian offensive last year and this winter lost its potential, while Ukraine significantly stabilized the front line and even regained control over some territory in the Pokrovsk area and other locations.

The Russians achieve only minimal advances at an extremely high cost in some areas, losing thousands of soldiers killed and wounded.

These are the bloodiest square meters that any army has captured in modern history, he emphasized.

Because of this, the Russian dictator even turned to the North Korean regime for support. More than 12,000 North Korean soldiers were involved in the fighting in the Kursk region.

Russia intended to recapture the Kursk region in a few months, but could not do so even in nine months.

"At the current pace of advancement in the Donetsk region, it will take Moscow many years to take it under control," Sybiha said.

It is also important to keep in mind the overall picture, which demonstrates that the full-scale Russian invasion was a complete disaster overall, as it was planned as a blitzkrieg.

"In three years, Russia has lost over 950,000 soldiers killed and wounded, but has not captured a single new regional center in Ukraine since the 2022 invasion. The only one was Kherson, but Ukraine liberated it in 2022 along with over half of the occupied territories," the statement said.

Instead, Ukraine has expanded its defense industry sixfold and now meets about 40% of its military needs on its own. Ukrainians produce 95% of the drones that destroyed 77,000 Russian targets on the front in March alone. That’s up 10% from February, and drone power is growing every week. Overall, up to three-quarters of frontline targets are destroyed by UAVs.

"Ukraine wants peace more than anyone else in the world. We never wanted this war, and we want it to end as soon as possible. We are working hard together with the United States, European and other partners to achieve peace. And this path must be based on accurate information, assumptions and assessments," Sibiga emphasized.

The minister called for pressure on the Russian Federation and a clear strengthening of Ukraine, which would deprive the Kremlin of illusions that the Russian army is capable of turning the situation in its favor. Such measures would force it to think about ending the war, not escalating it.

We remind you that previously proposals were made public regarding ending Russia's war in Ukraine , which US special envoy Steve Witkoff presented to European officials during talks in the French capital on April 17.
