Orban tells how Zelenskyy reacted to the ceasefire proposal

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy "had doubts" about the proposal to first declare a truce and try to start peace talks.

Orban said this in an interview with Weltwoche.

According to Hungarian PM Viktor Orban, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed "doubts" about the truce proposal: "he has a bad experience with this."

In an interview at the end of the visit, he admitted that Zelenskyy treated the prime minister's proposal to declare a truce first and then try to start peace talks with doubt. He later repeated this in an interview with the Swiss newspaper Weltwoche, noting that he wanted to know the Ukrainian president's opinion on the matter first.

Orban explained:

"What he thinks about the possibility of first declaring a ceasefire. Even a limited one: two, three, four weeks. And to say that during this ceasefire we can speed up peace talks."

When asked how Zelenskyy reacted, the Hungarian PM said the following:

"He said that he had doubts, that he did not like it very much. He said: let's reflect, let's think about it. He has a bad experience with previous ceasefires: in his interpretation, they did not bring anything good to Ukraine."

Earlier, Apostrophe reported that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban will make an unexpected visit to Kyiv and meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
