Ukrainian truck drivers announced hunger strike: demands to the Polish side are declared

Ukrainian truck drivers who are stuck at the border with Poland due to the blockade have gone on hunger strike and announced their demands to the authorities of the neighboring country.

This is reported by "Suspilne".

Drivers, who were blocked at the border crossing "Krakivets-Korczowa", demand Polish strikers to let more trucks through. Ukrainians demanded that the Polish side pass 14 trucks per hour.

Among the protesters is Alexander Khimich, the driver of a refrigerator truck, has been standing at the border for a week.

"I'm coming from Klaipeda (Lithuania). I get into the priority, as you understand. The point is that tent cars are carrying cargo: fuel, for example, flammable substances. We have priority. There are 1207 drivers in the queue - that's just us, refrigerators, gasoline trucks," the driver said.

Another driver said that the Polish side listened to their demands, but no one accepted them.

"We wanted to take part in a peaceful action - negotiations with the protesters. We were blocked by the police. About 250 people on one side. We weren't allowed to reach the protesters. Polish police gave the go-ahead for three men, a volunteer, our demands were listened to, but no one accepted them. We are on hunger strike, but now we are still waiting for a meeting with the consul," says the driver.

We remind to you that the participants in the driver's strike at the Polish border are blocking the import of humanitarian aid and medicines for frontline hospitals in Ukraine.
