Bulgarian President vetoes transfer of armored personnel carriers to Ukraine

Bulgarian President Rumen Radev has vetoed parliament's decision to transfer 100 of decommissioned armored personnel carriers to Ukraine without a charge. Previously, the military equipment belonged to Bulgarian Ministry of Internal Affairs.

This is reported by NOVA.

Radev explained his decision citing the fact that "the members of parliament were not sufficiently familiar with the specific conditions of the delivery". According to him, the decision did not take into account the wartime tasks assigned to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and needs of the Main Directorates of Border Police, Fire Safety and Public Safety.

"Armored cross-country transport vehicles can be used to protect Bulgarian border and assist the population in case of disasters and accidents. I am guided by the strong conviction that the safety, health and life of Bulgarian citizens should be a priority," said Bulgarian President.
