The Security Service of Ukraine detained a Russian agent couple who were preparing a double terrorist attack near the Trade Center in Ternopil.
This was reported by the press service of the Security Service of Ukraine.
According to the plan, the enemy was first to blow up a company car parked near the Trade Center. Then, after the emergency services arrived at the scene, a second explosive device was to be detonated.
Thus, the Russian special services intended not only to kill the maximum number of Ukrainian citizens, but also to eliminate their agents as "superfluous witnesses."
The Russian order was carried out by two drug addicts from Poltava region: a 42-year-old man and his 30-year-old cohabitant, who were looking for money "for a dose" on Telegram channels. There they were recruited by a Russian intelligence officer, on whose instructions the couple arrived in Ternopil to prepare a terrorist attack.
Upon arrival, the enemy agents received instructions from the occupiers to rent an apartment. There they stored two improvised explosive devices equipped with additional attack elements in the form of nuts and electronic means of remote detonation.
The security service exposed the agents at the initial stage of their subversive activities. After documenting their crimes, both suspects were detained as they headed with explosives to the site of the planned terrorist attack.
SBU investigators informed the detainees of suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The perpetrators are now in custody - they face up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
