Georgia significantly reduced visa-free regime for Ukrainians: details of the decision

The Georgian government has changed the rules regarding visa-free travel for Ukrainian citizens. The visa-free period has been reduced threefold.

This is evidenced by the resolution of the pro-Russian "Georgian Dream" government, Mtavari reports.

As noted, the right of Ukrainian citizens entering Georgia without a visa to stay in the country for a full three years has been reduced to one.

According to the resolution, Ukrainian citizens who entered and stayed in Georgia before February 24 of this year will have their stay extended until February 24, 2026.

Corresponding amendments have been made to Government Resolution No. 255 of June 5, 2015 "On Approval of the List of Countries whose Citizens May Enter Georgia Without Visas," journalists report.

The publication recalled that previously, on the contrary, the relevant period of stay in the country was increased. Initially, it was limited to one year, then, after the start of the full-scale war in Ukraine, the period was increased to two years, and then to three years.

We will remind, after the pro-Russian "Georgian Dream" came to power, the country decided to abandon European integration . After that, protests broke out among citizens dissatisfied with the Russian course.
