A court in Moscow has sentenced a Ukrainian citizen to 16 years in a maximum-security prison. He was found guilty of attempted terrorist attack and possession of explosives.
This was reported by the Mediazona portal.
As noted, this is about 30-year-old Vadim Chaly from Kyiv, who was caught sending parcels with 900 grams of explosives to colonels of the Russian Ministry of Defense. As one of the victims said, the parcel looked like a gift from colleagues, but he heard the sounds of a phone inside, took it out to the balcony and called the sappers.
According to the investigation, Chaly came across an order from the Security Service of Ukraine on Avito. For a thousand rubles, he was supposed to send parcels with bombs, and for the last parcel, they promised four thousand.
Chaly admitted his guilt and repented, but the injured officers did not recognize his repentance as sincere.
"I understand that I made a huge mistake, a mistake, I admit my guilt and am ready to be punished. I ask, your honor, for leniency in terms of the term - because of my mother, she has health problems, I am worried about her," the Ukrainian said.
It is reported that Chaly will spend the first three years in prison, plus pay a fine of 500,000 rubles. The prosecution requested 18 years in prison.
