"Steve Witkoff has begun a meeting with Putin. Not on his knees yet": Trump's gesture to the dictator was ridiculed

The Internet was made laugh by an ambiguous gesture by US President Donald Trump's special representative, Steve Witkoff, during the first seconds of his meeting with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.

The relevant footage appeared online.

So, in the video, Trump's special envoy, upon seeing Putin, placed his hand on his heart. Such a gesture in the US and many European countries is a sign of respect, especially during state events or during the performance of the anthem, but what it meant in this case - the network interpreted in its own way.

"Steve Witkoff has started a meeting with Putin. Not on his knees yet," Ukrainian volunteer Serhiy Sternenko commented on the first footage of the meeting.

As is known, US President's special representative Witkoff arrived in Moscow on April 11.

Earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Vladimir Putin and Trump's special envoy would discuss the "Ukrainian settlement."

"Of course, Witkoff, as President Trump's special representative, will bring something from his president for Putin. Putin will listen to it. The conversation will continue on various aspects of the Ukrainian settlement," Peskov said.

Earlier, Russian media reported that Vitkoff met in St. Petersburg with the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund and the special representative of the Russian dictator for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, Kirill Dmitriev.

As "Apostrophe" wrote, before this meeting, US leader Donald Trump for the first time addressed only Russian dictator Vladimir Putin in a new statement about the need to end the war in Ukraine.
