Ukrainian military man and blogger Kyrylo Sazonov denied the words of US President Donald Trump that Russia's concession to the approach of peace would be the refusal to seize the entire territory of Ukraine.
In his Telegram, Sazonov used examples to prove why this doesn't work in Russia.
The day before, when asked by reporters in the Oval Office about what concessions Russia had offered to get closer to a point where peace could be achieved, US President Donald Trump replied:
"Stopping the war, stopping the takeover of the entire country is a pretty big concession."
Regarding this, a Ukrainian blogger ironically mentions:
"You may not believe it, but Russia is ready to make concessions. Oh, it's already making them! Don't you see? And the US president does. Well, he found arguments for journalists to ask why all peace initiatives look like concessions from Ukraine and acceptance of Russia's conditions. So. Russia's concession is that it stops the war and does not seize all of Ukraine. These are not some dubious "sources" from Western publications. Trump himself stated this on camera yesterday."
Instead, "purely for understanding" suggests recalling reality:
"Mr. President, dear. I don't want to upset you, but you have been severely misled. In fact, you have a very wrong impression of the situation with Russian aggression in Ukraine."
He emphasizes that the fact that Russia will not take over all of Ukraine is not a concession. After all, they wanted and tried to:
"Indeed, they tried very hard, but they simply could not. I remember this time very well. Large columns set off to storm key cities in Ukraine. Armored vehicles, contractors. A push towards Kyiv from three directions, an assault on Kharkiv, a landing in Odessa. All this was done without any concessions. No one stopped on the banks of the Irpit River near my house and shouted in Russian, "We can take Kyiv now, but we are making a concession and stopping." No. They stopped because they were met harshly by the 72nd Brigade. The Irpin Terroir Defense. Separate units of the GUR. The guys from the Armed Forces of Ukraine and Terroir Defense who were in Moshchun."
Sazonov recalls who really prevented the enemy from capturing the capital:
"Volunteers from the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Ministry of Defense, the DFTG, it's not clear who is in tracksuits with machine guns. That's who didn't let the enemy capture Kyiv and Ukraine. There was no talk of any concessions, just as there is no talk now."
According to him, the Russians really believed that the Armed Forces of Ukraine did not exist, that they had the "second army in the world," and there would be no resistance:
"Because such an invasion is coming, and we... what about us? And we turned out to be strong. Despite the shortage of equipment and defense. I remember very well the ratio of artillery in 2022 near Lysychansk. They cover us, and we almost do not respond."
– Commander, we don’t have any guns at all?!
– There is
- How much?
- A mystery, but not much
- Two?
- A little less...
That's how it was. During the day, enemy cannons and mortars, we are squeezed out of positions, we retreat. At night, volunteers go on a raid - liberate positions. Ambushes, unexpected raids, active defense. It's true, the ratio was terrible, but... the volunteers fought hard for theirs."
He also mentioned the strong volunteer support, after which there were corresponding jokes about "let's gather for a nuclear war":
"Volunteers provided everyone with what they needed and even more. They say, Mr. President, the United States has a great culture and traditions of charity. I believe it. But you haven't seen our movement to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine since 2022. That's space. And the joke about gathering supplies for a nuclear plant in two days, buying them in Sweden, delivery for a week, because the queue at the Polish border... this is a joke. Very real."
That is why the military man and blogger emphasizes: the refusal to seize Ukraine is not a concession on the part of Russia.
"They tried very hard. But they got hit on the cheek. They couldn't. Everyone was in shock. That's the reality. 'The cards are in your hands' - as you usually say," he concludes.
"Apostrophe" also wrote that US President Donald Trump has set a deadline for concluding a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine.
