Large-scale fires and destruction - what are the consequences of the Russian strike on Kharkiv?

On the night of Tuesday, April 29, Russia struck Kharkiv with drones, causing widespread fires and destruction.

"Apostrophe" will further discuss the currently known consequences, citing sources.

Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov wrote at 10:08 p.m. that explosions could be heard in the city. Later, he announced repeated explosions.

"In the Saltivskyi district, a hostile drone was recorded hitting a private house. Information about the victims is being clarified," the mayor wrote .

Also, according to him, an enemy UAV hit a high-rise building in the Slobodsky district.

At 23:23 Terekhov said :

"16 strikes were recorded in Kharkiv. High-rise buildings and private houses, a medical facility, and civilian infrastructure were damaged."

There were also reports of injuries. According to the head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, Oleg Synegubov, the number of victims has increased to 45 (as of 06:56). He specifies:

"31 people suffered an acute stress reaction. 14 people were injured to varying degrees of severity. 5 people were hospitalized. Among the injured were two children and a pregnant woman."

The State Emergency Service showed photos of the consequences of the Russian attack, reporting on the scale of the destruction:

"As a result of massive UAV strikes on Kharkiv, residential buildings, garages, infrastructure facilities were destroyed, and cars were damaged. 10 fires broke out in different parts of the city."

Rescuers, medics, police, volunteers, and municipal services were at the scene. Firefighting, clearing of debris, and assistance to the injured continued despite the risk of further Russian attacks.

Recall that on the night of April 27, Russian troops carried out a drone strike on Pavlohrad in the Dnipropetrovsk region. The attack killed a man and injured a 14-year-old girl.
