Around 5 a.m. on February 24, the Ukrainian state border was attacked by Russian troops from Russia and Belarus.
This is stated in the message of the State Border Service of Ukraine on Facebook.
It is noted that attacks on border units, outfits, and checkpoints occur with the use of artillery, heavy equipment, as well as small arms.
Lugansk, Sumy, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, and Zhytomyr region were attacked first. The attacks also were made from Crimea.
The enemy's reconnaissance groups are working.
"Depending on the situations on the border sections, border guards, together with the armed forces of Ukraine and the National Guard of Ukraine, are attacking the enemy back," the message reads.
Information about injuries among border guards is being clarified.
