11 people were killed in Chernihiv, three children among the victims

The number of injured and dead as a result of a missile attack on Chernihiv in the morning of April 17 has increased - as of 12:00 a.m., 11 people have been killed and more than 50 injured, including children.

This was reported by Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Oleksiy Kuleba on his Telegram channel.

According to him, as a result of the terrorist actions of the Russian occupiers, an eight-story building was destroyed, four high-rise buildings, a hospital, a higher education institution, and dozens of cars were damaged.

"We know about more than 50 injured, including three children, and 11 dead. There may be people under the rubble," he said.

Kuleba emphasized that the rescue operation is ongoing, and rescuers are doing everything possible to get people out alive and keep them healthy. All emergency services are also involved.

A headquarters has been set up at the scene to provide the necessary assistance to those in need. Authorities are working to quickly organize the work of commissions that register damages. All victims will be provided with full compensation for the destroyed property.

As a reminder, the air raid alerts first sounded in Kyiv and the Region at 8:50 a.m. Later, residents of Chernihiv, Sumy, Poltava, Cherkasy, and some other regions were warned of the danger. Around 9:00 a.m., high-speed air targets were spotted flying across Sumy to Chernihiv Region, and it was assumed that two missiles were flying. In addition, missiles were flying towards Kyiv Region and the capital. At 9 a.m., local residents of Chernihiv reported three loud explosions. After that, a thick column of smoke rose into the air.
