An unknown person attacked and stabbed the executive producer of Public Broadcasting and well-known journalist Yuriy Makarov.
This was announced by the head of the Public Mykola Chernotytskyi.
The journalist was hospitalized in serious condition. As of now, there is no threat to his life.
"The police are conducting investigative actions. On behalf of the Public Broadcaster, I call on the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine to take the investigation under personal control," Chernotytskyi emphasized.
As reported by Svitlana Ostapa, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Detector Media, Makarov said that he is currently fine.
" An attack was made on Yuri Makarov! Yuri told me that everything was fine with him. "They stitched me up and cheered me up," he wrote," Ostapa noted.
It is reported that criminal proceedings have been opened under the article "Grievous Bodily Injuries" (Part 1 of Article 121). The police are conducting investigative actions.
Yuriy Makarov is a Ukrainian journalist, TV presenter, documentary filmmaker, and writer. Until 2009, he was the editor-in-chief, and since then, a columnist for the magazine "Ukrainian Week." From 2017 to 2019, he was a member of the board of the Public Television of Ukraine (UPTU), and from 2019, he was the executive producer of the Public Television of Ukraine (UPTU). He is the Chairman of the Committee for the Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine (from December 2019 to March 2023).
