The UK to begin mass COVID-19 vaccinations

The UK becomes the first country to authorize the COVID-19 vaccine created by German and American companies Pfizer and BioNTech. A 90-year-old woman has become the first Brit to receive the new coronavirus vaccine, which serves as a historic moment in the fight against the virus.

This was reported by The Sun.

The 90-year-old woman, better known as Maggie, received a guard of honor from nurses after becoming the first Brit to get vaccinated.

Ms. Keenan, who turns 91 next week, said, "I feel so privileged to be the first person vaccinated against COVID-19, it’s the best early birthday present I could wish for because it means I can finally look forward to spending time with my family and friends in the New Year after being on my own for most of the year.”

Health Secretary Matt Hancock said the start of the roll-out of Pfizer's Covid-19 vaccine meant there was "finally" a "way through" the coronavirus crisis.

"It has been such a tough year for so many people and finally we have our way through it - our light at the end of the tunnel as so many people are saying. And just watching Margaret there - it seems so simple having a jab in your arm, but that will protect Margaret and it will protect the people around her," the Secretary stated.
