Bundestag urges Sunak to put pressure on Scholz: should Ukraine wait for Taurus missiles

A faction of the opposition Christian Democratic Union (CDU) has called on British PM Rishi Sunak to finally put pressure on German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to supply Ukraine with Taurus cruise missiles.

This was reported by n-tv.

It is a meeting between representatives of the two countries in Berlin on Wednesday, April 24. It is noted that this will be the first visit of British PM Rishi Sunak to Germany after he took office in October 2022.

According to the German opposition, after the passage of the US bill on aid to Ukraine, considering a call for the supply of weapons with a longer range, the German authorities should also be pressured accordingly.

"The U.S. package explicitly calls on U.S. President Joe Biden to provide long-range ATACMS. That's why Sunak should also increase pressure on Scholz to finally deliver the Taurus," said CDU defense expert Roderich Kiesewetter, emphasizing that the material issue is critical for Ukraine in 2024.
