Russia announces sentences for 23 Ukrainians who served in Azov

A court in Russia has announced the sentences of 23 Ukrainians who served in Azov.

This is reported by "Mediazona".

Eleven of them were sentenced in absentia, as they had already returned to Ukraine as part of a prisoner exchange. The rest received sentences ranging from 12 to 22 years in a maximum-security prison.

The following received real terms: Oleksandr Mukhin, Yaroslav Zhdamarov, Oleg Zharkov, Anatoly Hrytsyk, Oleksiy Smykov, Oleg Mizhgorodsky, Oleksandr Irkha, Artem Grebeshkov, Artur Gretsky, Oleksandr Merochenets, Oleg Tishkul, and Mykyta Timonin.

The men were brought to the courtroom in shackles. Before the verdict was announced, Oleg Zharkov felt sick - his stomach hurt, and an ambulance was called for him.

Nine exchanged women, who worked as army cooks at various times, were also sentenced in absentia - real terms in a general regime colony, since there are no strict regime women's colonies in Russia.

Olena Abramova, Olena Bondarchuk, Liliya Pavrianidis, Nina Bondarenko, Iryna Mogytych, Vladislava Maiboroda, and Marina Tekin were sentenced in absentia to 13 years in prison, and Liliya Rudenko and Natalia Golfiner were sentenced in absentia to 14 years in prison. They were all exchanged in September last year.

By the way, journalist Oleksandra Horchynska shared a photo of "Azov" soldier Yevhen Chudentsov under the pseudonym "Chudik". One of them was taken in Russian captivity, and the second - a year after his release.

As Apostrophe reported, in December, Azov fighter Igor Ivanyuk was sentenced to 24 years and 6 months in a maximum-security prison in Russia.
