One car per hour: what is the situation on the border blocked by Poles

Polish protesters continue to hamper border traffic by blocking checkpoints. Truck traffic from Ukraine to Poland has almost completely stopped. As of the morning of February 29, there was a queue of about 2,200 trucks at six checkpoints.

Andriy Demchenko, a Spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, said this during the TV marathon.

He reports that the situation remains unchanged, commenting:

"Polish farmers continue to block six checkpoints, complicating traffic specifically for cargo vehicles in both directions."

A significant decrease in traffic was registered at "Shehyni" checkpoint. Only 35 trucks crossed here over the past day, 24 of which were heading towards Ukraine.

"In fact, one truck per hour was allowed to pass through. Ten trucks crossed in the direction of Poland, which is even less than one truck per hour," said Demchenko.

It is also known that the longest queue of trucks was at "Krakivets", "Rava-Ruska" and "Yahodyn" checkpoints. In particular, only about 70 trucks crossed the border to Ukraine through "Yahodyn" checkpoint over the past day, which is a "critically low" figure. The overall capacity of this and other checkpoints is much higher. Instead, the protesters do not allow truck traffic in the direction of Poland at all.

"Apostrophe" reported earlier that Poland is considering a complete closure of the border with Ukraine.
