In Minsk, another wave of protests took place: over 200 people detained

On Sunday, November 22, in Minsk, where the protests against the current government of Belarus have been going on for several months, the security forces since morning have been preparing to suppress another Sunday protest action. The special means were used against the peaceful participants of the protest. This was reported by TUT.BY.

Olga Chemodanova, the spokeswoman for the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus, said that law enforcement officers used special means against citizens who for violating the public order and resisting security officers.

"In Minsk, several groups of people went to the roadway and blocked traffic, violating the public order. Protesters were repeatedly warned about the inadmissibility of such violations. However, some of them even resisted the security forces during the detention. Therefore, the police were forced to use special means against the uncontrollable rebels " - the official said.

Chemodanova also reported a decline in protest activity across the country.

"It should be noted that the number of participants in unauthorized events [protests] is gradually declining. In the country, with the exception of Minsk, unauthorized mass events as such were not reported as of 16.00" she said.

According to the “Viasna” human rights centre, at least 210 protesters are currently being detained. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus does not provide the official data on the detention.

Detentions took place mainly in Minsk, as well as in Borovlyany, Pinsk, Brest, Novopolotsk, Zaslavl, Grodno, and Lyakhovychi.

As was reported by "Apostrophe", November 22 in Minsk, Kamiana Girka district, a girl tried to stand up for a guy who was attacked by security forces for what she was beaten with a truncheon.
