Another Sunday morning began with protests in Minsk and several other Belarusian cities, including Brest, Mogilev, and Grodno, as was reported by Tut.by.
In Minsk, several people were detained and taken to the police department. Mobile internet and subway are properly working in the city. Earlier, however, the authorities shut down the internet and closed several stations in order to "suppress" the protests.
"Similar to several previous Sundays, the mobile Internet and the metro are working in the capital. Several people, however, were detained in Minsk today and taken to the police department," the journalists said.
As of January 10, a little over 40 detainees still remain at a police detention center located in Zhodino. They are facing a 25-day sentence, thus having "celebrated" the New Year behind bars.
Meanwhile, Lukashenko said in an interview with the Russia 1 TV channel that the new Constitution of Belarus draft is expected to be ready by the end of 2021. The people will have to decide on its passage during a referendum. Tikhanovskaya, in turn, called it a "manipulative project" but also announced several proposals for the draft Constitution that will be soon submitted by her office.
