After the recent attack on the Belbek airfield, explosions were heard on Russian territory - on May 17. It was loud in Novorossiysk due to a massive drone attack, and there were many explosions. Air defence was allegedly operating in the city, but several arrivals were recorded. Local residents were asked not to go outside.

The first report of the explosions came at 03:16 a.m. on May 17. At the time, it was noted, citing locals, that explosions were heard in Novorossiysk. Russia's unified emergency dispatch service allegedly warned of the test until 11 p.m., but it was already 3:16 a.m.
Later, residents of Novorossiysk also reported an attack on the local port and an oil depot and posted a photo of a fire at one of the facilities.
A siren was activated in Novorossiysk only some time after the first nighttime explosions. The smoke was visible in the area and the local port was cut off from electricity.
The Governor of the Krasnodar Krai reported that the attack lasted quite a while - as of 4:15 a.m., he counted more than 10 drones that were allegedly shot down by Russian air defence. And as of the morning, the number of explosions was also counted - there were 35 overnight. Local residents also counted 35 drones. As of 5:22 a.m, the explosions in the city continued.
Another Russian channel reported that such a massive attack on the territory of the Russian Federation began around 1 am - only at 4 a.m. an air raid siren was activated, but it was called a ‘communication test’. Shots and explosions continued at 5 a.m. on May 17.

As of this morning, it is known that traffic on Magistralnaya Street in Novorossiysk has been completely blocked following numerous explosions and a UAV attack.
At the request of local residents to provide accurate information about the situation in the city, the Novorossiysk administration banned residents from leaving their homes after the nighttime attacks.
The Deputy Head of the city, Alexander Yamenskov, said that they had to stay at home. Parents of local students were sent messages that their children did not need to go to school today. In addition, it was noted that public transport was not working.
