The mayor of the Russian city of Kursk, Igor Kutsak, has announced his resignation, citing family circumstances.
This is reported by The Insider .
According to Kutsak, his family needs his presence right now.
"A large number of family issues have accumulated, so my most active and proactive participation is needed here," the politician commented.
Kutsak has held the position of mayor since 2022. Acting Governor of Kursk Oblast Alexander Khinshtein stated that he dissuaded Kutsak from his decision to resign.
"The motives and reasons that Igor Vyacheslavovich has, obviously, did not allow him to do this here," the official added.
Kursk is located a hundred kilometers from the border with Ukraine, and drones regularly fly into the city. As mayor, Igor Kutsak was remembered, in particular, for advising the city's residents to put in order shelters themselves, in which it was impossible to hide, because "no one canceled the Subbotniks."
Meanwhile, local media report that the name of the acting mayor of Kursk will be announced on Thursday, April 10.
By the way, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that Ukrainian troops are on Russian territory not only in the Kursk region .
