Putin's "inauguration'': all the details about the position of Ukraine, the US and the EU

The so-called inauguration of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin will take place on Tuesday, May 7. Representatives of foreign countries have been invited to attend.

Apostrophe collected all the information about the position of Ukraine, the United States and the EU on Putin's inauguration.

In its statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine noted that Ukraine does not recognize Vladimir Putin as democratically elected in this year's elections and the legitimate president of the Russian Federation, and calls on other countries and international organizations to do the same.

"In this way, the Russian authorities are trying to create for the whole world and its citizens the illusion of the legitimacy of the almost lifelong stay in power of the man who turned Russia into an aggressor state and the ruling regime into a dictatorship," the statement said.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs notes that "during the so-called March ‘elections’ " Russia violated the norms of numerous international documents that are the basis of the modern system of international relations. And the illegal organization of the electoral process in the temporarily occupied sovereign territories of Ukraine was a blatant violation of generally recognized norms and principles of international law.

The United States will not send a representative to the so-called "inauguration" of Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin on May 7. This was stated by US State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller. But at the same time, the United States will continue to recognize Putin as president of Russia.

"We certainly did not consider that election free and fair but he is the president of Russia and he is going to continue in that capacity," Miller said.

The United States, the United Kingdom and most EU countries will boycott Vladimir Putin's "inauguration" after the pseudo-elections, which were recognized as illegitimate by the European Parliament.

It is expected that 20 EU member states will boycott the ceremony, while seven countries may send their envoys. According to two diplomatic sources, in addition to France, Hungary and Slovakia are likely to participate.

Even Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will not participate in the "inauguration" ceremony of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, as reported by Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan.

Earlier, Apostrophe wrote that seven countries could still send envoys to Vladimir Putin's "inauguration" ceremony on May 7.
