Russia has planned joint Russian-Belarusian military exercises dedicated to ‘peacekeeping topics’

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation has announced the joint Russian-Belarusian tactical exercises of the Russian Airborne Troops and the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus which are going to take place in March at the Polivno test site in the Ulyanovsk region (Russia) and the Osipovichsky training ground in Minsk region of the Republic of Belarus.

The official statement was published by the press-service of the Russian Ministry of Defence.

The exercise will take place from March 9 until March 20 and will be dedicated to peacekeeping topics. The exercises will begin at the Polyivno training ground, Ulyanovsk region. In total, more than 400 servicemen and about 100 units of combat and special equipment of the Ulyanovsk unit will be involved. After that, the training will move to Osipovichsky training ground in the Minsk region. More than 80 servicemen of the separate Guards Airborne Division of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus will take part in the exercises.

In addition, 2 Mi-24 attack helicopters and 6 Mi-8AMTSh transport and combat helicopters are also prepared for military training.

According to "Apostrophe", Russia has also planned to conduct large-scale military exercises on the territory of the occupied Crimean peninsula.
