The strike on Engels airfield in Saratov region on the night of March 20 was carried out by a Ukrainian Long Neptune missile. This is a military facility that the Russians use for aviation to launch missile strikes on the territory of Ukraine.
This is stated by Ukrainian blogger Serhiy Naumovych on Facebook.
"The Long Neptune reportedly hit the same warehouse of "X" missiles of the occupiers tonight in the area of the Engels-2 airfield. There was most likely a minus one or minus two floor there for storing those missiles, and the Long Neptune coped with the task very well," he noted.
He believes that mass production of the missile could change a lot. Also, the Ukrainian side could strike such important targets through communication channels (as in the case of the use of Storm Shadow) without consulting with the intelligence of Western partners. He suggests that those channels were "leaky."
"If the radius is really 1 thousand km, then this is a real thrill! Look at the map. The occupiers will have to change logistics, move factories. But there is a nuance: mass production of Ukrainian ballistics is approaching! And the distance there may be even greater. So let's go to Kamchatka!...", Naumovich said.
As a reminder, on March 15, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine had successfully tested the new Ukrainian Long Neptune missile in action against the occupiers.
We also wrote that on March 20, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported a strike on the Engels airfield in the Saratov region last night. It was carried out by units of the Security Service of Ukraine, the Special Operations Command, together with other parts of the Defense Forces.
