Pastor Mark Burns, personal spiritual advisor to US President Donald Trump, who is visiting Kyiv, visited the Babyn Yar tract.
This was announced by the Chief Rabbi of Ukraine, Moshe Reuven Azman.
According to him, they visited the park together.
"We visited Babyn Yar - one of the most terrible places in the history of the Jewish people, where during World War II, Hitler's Nazis shot hundreds of thousands of innocent people, the vast majority of whom were Jews. I had the honor to read a prayer for the souls of the dead, and together with our honored guest, we honored the memory of the victims who died only because of their nationality, faith, and origin. Pastor Burns was deeply moved by the tragedy and symbolism of this place," Asmana noted.
The Chief Rabbi added that at a time when Ukraine is once again experiencing a terrible war, in which civilians are being killed, houses of prayer are being destroyed, and human life is being disregarded, the memory of Babyn Yar takes on special importance.
"It reminds us: the silence and indifference of the world are also weapons in the hands of evil," said Asmana.
