Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that China was informed about the participation of its citizens in a full-scale war against Ukraine on the side of Russia. Ukrainian intelligence has data on all Chinese involved in the fighting.
The head of state stated this during a meeting with journalists.
According to him, there are at least 155 Chinese citizens. It is known that all of them are assigned to enemy units located in temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories. In general, there may be significantly more representatives of the PRC fighting on the enemy side.
"For these 155, there is passport data, where they are from, their documents, age, places of service. The scheme of how they are recruited is clear. One of the schemes is through social networks, in particular Tik-Tok and other Chinese social networks, where Russians distribute advertising videos," the head of state said.
In particular, Zelensky was asked whether they could be considered mercenaries and whether this was considered Beijing's policy. He said that official Beijing was informed about these cases, and the SBU would clarify the details.
"I don't have an answer to this question yet. The Security Service of Ukraine will work on this. We are simply recording, thanks to the data and details that we have, that China at the level of official representations knew about the shipment," the president added.
As "Apostrophe" wrote, the Armed Forces of Ukraine captured two Chinese citizens who fought as part of the Russian army in the Donetsk region.
At the same time, the PRC reacted to the capture in Ukraine of their citizens who fought on the side of the Russian army.
It was also reported that a Chinese citizen who was captured at the front told how he ended up with the Russians.
