"Oddly enough, Kasparov formulated what many of us could not formulate": Ukrainian journalist on the absence of an "other Russia"

Ukrainian journalist Kateryna Kobernyk supported the position of Russian chess player Garry Kasparov, who said that the particular blame lies precisely with those "good" Russians who, for grant money, convince the world of the existence of some other Russia.

She wrote about this on her Facebook page.

"And this is very accurate. "Meduza", "Dozhd", Kara Murza, Dud and Bell convince the world that Russians are normal. Chief editor Bell Osetinskaya did not even change the name of her project "Russian Norms", because this is her principled position. They are openly lying about some resistance movements that have not happened over the years, and a large number of political prisoners. This is a lie that is easy to verify. There are political prisoners, but there are too few of them to justify an entire country. And the vast majority of these political prisoners are far from the people who openly and loudly spoke out against the murders of Ukrainians or against Putin - they were caught doing some completely absurd things and imprisoned as a preventive measure. Often - based on denunciations from the Russians themselves," wrote Kobernyk.

"The position of many of my colleagues on emigration does not stand up to any criticism. This eternal attempt to remain in white gloves - "we have nothing to do with it" - is surprising. What are you doing? We are all in this shit, this shit is on all of us. Stop pretending that you have nothing to do with it. The longer you pretend, the more you become accomplices in Putin's crimes," Kasparov believes.
