Over the past few weeks, the defense forces have managed to liberate about 16 square kilometers of territory in the Pokrovsk area of Donetsk region.
This was announced by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrsky.
Currently, the commander-in-chief is in the operational zone of the troops of the Donetsk operational-tactical group.
"Over the course of three days, I visited virtually all the brigades of this most powerful grouping of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, which bears the main burden of countering the enemy's spring offensive and destroying its best forces and means," he noted.
Syrsky noted that in the Pokrov direction, Ukrainians stop up to 30 enemy assaults every day, causing heavy losses to the Russian occupiers.
According to him, he listened to reports from the commander of the operational-tactical group, Brigadier General Oleksandr Tarnavsky, on the ground, worked with brigade commanders at command posts, and resolved problematic issues regarding the organization of combat operations, provision of shells and logistical means.
He also gave orders to resolve problematic issues and meet the existing needs of the fighters.
"Of course, our main capital and highest value are our people. I drew attention to the thorough preparation and support of combat operations of each combat unit, each assault group. This should be a constant object of control of the brigade commander and the direct responsibility of the battalion commander...", he said.
The Commander-in-Chief emphasized that the enemy has not changed its plans to push the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine beyond the Donetsk and Luhansk regions and reach the administrative borders of these regions, but the Ukrainians are firmly standing in the way of such intentions.
"The enemy's plan remains unrealized. We are continuing the defensive operation, conducting counteroffensive actions and have had some successes. In recent weeks, we have liberated about 16 square kilometers of territory in the area of the settlements of Udachne, Kotlyne, Shevchenko...", added Syrsky.
