"On the morning of May 1, the curator gave her the order to commit the murder." The attempt on Sternenko was described step by step

The security service reported suspicions to a woman who tried to kill volunteer and activist Serhiy Sternenko on May 1. The special service also described step-by-step how the attacker acted.

This was reported by the press service of the SBU.

It is noted that the defendants are charged with committing a crime provided for by the following articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: Part 2 of Article 15, Part 3 of Article 27 and Part 2 of Article 115 "Completed attempted murder for selfish motives, committed on order, by prior conspiracy by a group of persons."

The 45-year-old woman, originally from Odesa Oblast and living in Kyiv, was recruited by Russian intelligence services late last year while searching for a "quick way to make money" online.

Initially, at the request of the curators, she monitored certain cars, took photographs, and transmitted the footage to the curators.

Then she received new tasks, in particular, according to the instructions, she had to make a homemade explosive device and change her place of residence - moving to an apartment in the center of the capital.

Since mid-April, the woman has been observing volunteer Sternenko, settling in the same residential complex as him.

Then I received the coordinates of the "stash" with firearms (a PM model pistol and ammunition for it).

On the morning of May 1, she was instructed to kill an activist near his home. Thanks to previous observations, she learned the make of the car and the approximate time the volunteer would leave his home.

As Sternenko was leaving the house, the agent fired several shots: one of the bullets hit him in the leg. The woman was immediately detained on the spot by SBU officers.

She was found to have a phone with evidence of working for Russia, as well as components for a homemade explosive device.

Sternenko posted a video on his Telegram channel with the attacker, stating: "I didn't know anything. I was just shooting. The mood was like, yeah...".

Her lawyer said the suspect had admitted her guilt. She was recruited by the FSB.

"The suspect was taking shooting courses, preparing for an assassination attempt... A person she completely trusted suggested eliminating Sternenko, motivating it by the fact that Sternenko works for the FSB and the arrivals in Kyiv were his doing," the defense stated.

The defendant faces up to 15 years in prison.

Previously, "Apostrophe" reported that a video of an attempt on the life of Ukrainian activist Serhiy Sternenko was published online.

Serhiy Sternenko reported the attack himself. Later, he clarified that he underwent surgery, "the bullet went right through."
