Ukrainian Cardinal Mykola Bychok, who will participate in the election of the new Pope, announced that he is currently moving to the Vatican, as the Conclave begins today.
He wrote about this on his Facebook page.
"I urge you to continue your prayers for me and for all the cardinals, so that the Holy Spirit may guide us in a special way in choosing the next Pontiff. In return, I, being in the Sistine Chapel, will pray for a just peace in Ukraine and for Australia," the cardinal noted.
As "Apostrophe" wrote, Pope Francis died in the Vatican on April 21.
For the first time in history, in the vote for the new Pope, the majority of cardinal electors will not represent Europe, but countries from Latin America, Asia and Africa. There are also representatives of the Global South. Cardinal advisors under the age of 80 will take part in the election of the new Pope. Among them is Ukrainian Cardinal Mykola Bychok. According to the rules, to elect the Pope, it is necessary to gain two-thirds of the votes of the cardinals plus one more vote.
