The board of directors of the iron ore company Ferrexpo decided to allocate 10 million UAH to help the Okhmatdyt hospital, which suffered as a result of the Russian missile attack on July 8. These funds should help reconstruct the destroyed and damaged premises and the purchase of medical equipment.
"Ferrexpo wants to support the patients and medical staff of Okhmatdyt in this difficult time and restore the hospital for its sustainable operations. We believe that we will be able to overcome all challenges together, rebuild what was destroyed and restore safety and peace for Ukrainian children. Ukraine has a strong spirit, and Ferrexpo will always support those who need our help," said the leader of corporate social responsibility projects of the Ferrexpo Group in Ukraine and general director of “Bilanivsk GZK” Yuriy Khimich.
The company reminded that Ferrexpo has been supporting Ukraine and communities since the first day of the full-scale invasion. The company directed more than UAH 985 million to the needs of the Defense Forces and communities of 12 regions.
On July, 8 a Russian rocket completely destroyed the toxicology department of "Okhmatdyt" and damaged four other buildings. As a result of the attack, 10 surgical departments, 5 oncological departments, 2 somatic departments, intensive care, 2 intensive care units, operating units, departments of radiology and radiation therapy, as well as an oncology hematology laboratory were affected.
According to the Minister of Health Viktor Lyashko, more than UAH 800 million has already been received from benefactors to help "Okhmatdyt".
To remind, in 2023 Ferrexpo employed 46 veterans who worked at its enterprises before mobilization. In the first quarter of 2024, the company increased production of iron ore pellets by 189% compared to the previous quarter to 1.8 million tons, which was the best quarterly performance since the full-scale incursion.
