Andrii Matiukha supported Okhmatdyt: Doctors received a high-precision Thompson system

A cutting-edge Thompson retractor system has been installed at Kyiv’s Okhmatdyt hospital — a technological solution that significantly enhances the quality of pediatric surgeries. The purchase was funded by the Andrii Matiukha Foundation and the Good Donations charity.

Andrii Matiukha: “Medicine deserves the best”

Thompson is more than just a surgical tool — it’s a comprehensive system used in the most demanding fields, from neurosurgery to oncology. Key advantages include:

  • open access to the surgical field;
  • hands-free operation for the surgeon;
  • reduced anesthesia time for the child;
  • gentle handling of tissues;
  • ergonomic support during long procedures.

The price tag was UAH 2,221,000. But the value of a life cannot be measured in numbers.

“There’s no room for half-measures in this field. We opted for the full setup so doctors can work with maximum safety,” emphasized Andrii Matiukha.

The Andrii Matiukha Foundation: Systematic support for Ukrainian medicine

The foundation has supported important healthcare projects in Ukraine for years. Its main focus is on children’s hospitals, where precision, technology, and continuous support are critical.

Thanks to the partnership with Good Donations, a full Thompson system was purchased — one that will serve for years to come.

Over 300 emergency surgeries are performed annually at Okhmatdyt. Now, each one will be safer for young patients.
