The U.S. Treasury has updated the sanctions imposed against the Nord Stream-2 constructions

On Monday, February 22, the U.S. Treasury Department included Nord Stream 2 pipelayer in the sanctions list, as was reported by the DW news agency.

The "Fortuna" pipelayer involved in the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, as well as its owner, "KBT-Rus", have been added to another U.S. sanctions list, according to the statement published on the website of the U.S. Treasury.

Earlier, on January 19, the Donald Trump administration announced that sanctions will be imposed on "Fortune" and "KBT-Rus" in accordance with the law "On Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions" (CAATSA).

The Ministry of Finance clarifies that "Fortuna" and "KVT-Rus" were blacklisted under the Protecting European Energy Security Act (PEESA). In addition, it was noted that these are repeated sanctions against the “Fortuna” company.

Sanctions have also been imposed on other companies involved in the construction of Nord Stream 2. The list includes more than 15 companies.
