The Ukrainian authorities may soon abandon the ban on arms exports. The corresponding decision may be made as early as May 2025.
This was reported by Forbes Ukraine, citing sources.
According to the publication's interlocutor, the rhetoric regarding arms sales during war has changed dramatically recently. Such a possibility began to be allowed about three weeks ago, said the founder of one of the drone manufacturers.
Three possible options for selling defense products are envisaged:
- point approval - in the form of individual consideration for each contract;
- export of half of Ukraine's orders, provided that part of the income received will go to purchase the necessary weapons for the Ukrainian army;
- the emergence of a separate fund where an additional 20% export duty will be directed.
As Apostrophe previously reported, in the spring of 2025, Ukraine asked the United States to purchase a large package of aid for the Armed Forces.
It was recently reported that the US Presidential Administration has notified Congress of its intention to give the green light to the export of defense products to Ukraine through direct commercial sales worth $50 million or more.
