Serbian company Srbijagas and Hungarian FGSZ have completed the construction of a linear part of Gazprom's TurkStream pipeline for the transit of natural gas to Europe, dubbed Balkan Streambypassing Ukraine.
According to Serbian National Television the Serbian and Hungarian companies welded the “golden” joint of the gas pipeline on the border of the two countries. Starting from tomorrow, Hungary will lease capacities, and Serbia will become an important transit country for Central Europe.
The gas supply is planned to begin on October 1б 2021 (the beginning of the new gas year).
“Apostrophe” earlier informed that TurkStreampipeline, which is supplying Russian gas through the Black Sea to Turkey and further to the south Europe, started operating in January 2020. Turkey, Bulgaria, Greece, Macedonia and Romania were the first to join the pipeline. Since the beginning of 2021, Serbia, as well as Bosnia and Herzegovina and currently Hungary have also joined the gas pipeline. It is planned to expand the pipeline in order to supply the Russian gas to Austria as well.
