"Difficult, but not critical": the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine reacted to Trump's tariffs

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko commented on the introduction of new tariffs from the US. In her opinion, it will be difficult, but not critical.

She wrote about this on her Facebook page.

"A general duty of 10% will apply to us. There is no separate higher duty, such as 31% in Moldova or 20% in the EU, for Ukraine. How much did we export to the US in 2024? $874 million, of which $363 million was for cast iron and another $112 million for pipes. In return, we bought goods worth $3.4 billion in the US," Svyrydenko said.

According to her, since Ukrainian tariffs on American goods are quite low, there are chances to agree on other terms — the American statement clearly indicates such a possibility.

"If everything remains as it is, the American universal tariff will hit mainly small producers. Therefore, we are already working to ensure better conditions for Ukraine," the Deputy Prime Minister noted.

Svyrydenko also reported that Ukraine exports more than 600 different categories of goods to the US, including 65 types of products worth more than $1 million.

As a reminder, US President Donald Trump has announced that he will impose reciprocal tariffs of 10% on goods from all countries in the world. The US will also impose 25% tariffs on all car imports to the US. They will come into effect on April 3.
