Thanks to archival photographs and old postcards, you can not only feel the atmosphere of Kyiv in the early 20th century, but also see what it was like even in the 19th century.
The vintage photos were published on the Facebook page ''Spraga: it is interesting in Kyiv''.
"The streets of Kyiv on old postcards of the late 19th and early 20th centuries," the post reads.
The photos show the ancient Khreshchatyk Street, which has no cars at all, instead horse-drawn carts drive along it. However, the first trams have already started to appear.
One of the photographs confirms that this street has always been filled with people: you can see queues in shops or people just walking.
The first advertising banners with the words "Baths", "Courses", "Advertising Khreshchatyk" and others begin to appear on the buildings.
The commenters under the post urge others to preserve historic Kyiv, as the number of historical monuments is decreasing every year.
