Explosion at a point of sale in Kyiv: police name official cause

The National Police has named the official cause of the explosion at a retail outlet in the Desnyanskyi district of Kyiv, which occurred on April 3.

This was reported by the press service of the capital's police.

As noted, an ammunition exploded in the kiosk, as evidenced by the discovered remains.

"It was established that the explosion in the store occurred as a result of a grenade explosion. The explosives department of the headquarters found ammunition remnants in the premises," the report says.

Law enforcement officers also announced the identities of the two people who died in the incident. They are two local residents, aged 59 and 60.

Based on this fact, investigators of the Desniansky Police Department initiated two criminal proceedings: under Part 2 of Article 115 "Intentional Murder" and Part 1 of Article 263 "Illegal Handling of Weapons, Ammunition or Explosives" of the Criminal Code.

As "Apostrophe" previously wrote, an explosion occurred at the "Yunist" market in the Desnyanskyi district. Experts did not immediately specify what could have caused the explosion. The media wrote that, according to preliminary information, a gas cylinder could have exploded.

It was later reported that an unidentified object wrapped in wire exploded in the Dnipro district of Kyiv.
