The network released archival photos of the house of merchants Nechaev, located at 7, Kontraktova Square. It's considered to be the oldest residential house that has survived to this day.
This is stated on the page "Spraga: it is interesting in Kyiv" in Facebook.
According to the Scientific and Methodical Center of Monument Protection, the first floor of the building dates back to 1798, and the second floor was completed in the 1860s. The house was purchased by merchant Nechaev in 1891. The family of Nechaev were selling their famous pastries in Kyiv - "Nechaev gingerbread".
As noted in the article, the most surprising fact of the history of this house is that despite the fact that it was nationalized and turned into a communal building, the Nechaev family was able to survive the years of Soviet rule in one of the rooms, and after Ukraine became independent, they managed to return the house to their ownership.
Before the start of the full-scale invasion, this building hosted various artistic and educational events, such as literary and musical evenings.
