On Sunday, February 14, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky paid an official visit to the United Arab Emirates. During the visit, Zelensky met with Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, as was reported by the press-service of the Office of President of Ukraine.
The interlocutors noted the importance and necessity of maintaining the high dynamics of the bilateral political dialogue. Special attention was paid to the issues of trade, economic and investment cooperation. It was noted that the two countries have the potential to increase trade turnover several times over the next five years.
The parties spoke in detail about the issue of food security, cooperation in the fields of energy and infrastructure, military-technical cooperation and focused on specific joint projects that are already underway. Topics of scientific and technical cooperation, cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence and joint space exploration were raised.
During the official visit of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy to the United Arab Emirates, Director General of Ukroboronprom Yuriy Gusev signed agreements and contracts with Tawazun Economic Council and EDGE Group to expand military-technical cooperation totalling more than $ 1 billion.
This was reported by the press-service of the Office of President of Ukraine.
It is noted that agreement with EDGE on military and technical cooperation will allow the exchange and development of advanced technologies.

Signing this tri-party agreement demonstrates our intent to cooperate with leading international companies within the defence industry. We are excited about the opportunities that present themselves for the UAE and Ukraine to collaborate, exchange, and mutually benefit from one another’s military and technical capabilities,” CEO and Managing Director of EDGE Group His Excellency Faisal Al Bannai said.
At the end of the meeting, Volodymyr Zelensky highlighted the dynamics of reforms in Ukraine, in particular, the land reform and the legal framework for the protection of foreign investments. In general, the parties agreed to significantly intensify intergovernmental relations. The issues of fighting COVID-19 were raised.
