On August 23, on the eve of the Independence Day of Ukraine, Kyiv will host the first-ever Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen, organized at the initiative of the wife of the President of Ukraine Olena Zelenska.This was reported by the press service of the President's Office.
The wives and husbands of the world leaders, together with Ukrainian and international experts, will discuss the important challenges facing the countries caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. In particular, the topics of the access to health services and the introduction of mental health programs, the future of education, equal opportunities and overcoming discrimination will be raised.
"I look forward to this meeting. I believe that the summit will mark the beginning of a good tradition and create a new platform for discussing the current challenges facing our countries," Olena Zelensky said.
Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba stressed that the initiative of the First Lady of Ukraine will establish the regular exchange of experience, as well as coordination of efforts in the implementation of joint projects.
"The wives and husbands of state leaders play an important role in their countries. At the same time, international cooperation between First Ladies and Gentlemen has never been systematic. Ukraine has taken the initiative and for the first time in history has created such a platform," said Dmytro Kuleba.
