The EU called on Ukraine to abolish the practice of issuing two valid passports to its citizens to travel abroad at the same time.
This is stated in theFourth report on the EU visa-free regime with Western Balkans and Eastern Partnership countries
According to the report, Poland identified Ukrainian nationals holding more than one legally issued passport, sometimes with modified personal data, which could allow them to stay in the EU beyond the limit of 90 days in any 180-day period.
Therefore, the European Union expects Ukraine to he possibility for nationals of Ukraine to hold more than one valid passport at a time; stop the issuance of such ‘additional’ passports and cancel the validity of those which have been issue.
In February 2017, the EU Council approved a mechanism suspending visa-free regimes with third countries, which specifies the reasons for the suspension of visa-free regimes. The Fourth report on the EU visa-free regime with Western Balkans and Eastern Partnership countries is the fourth assessment carried out under such strengthened visa suspension mechanism for the 8 countries benefitting from visa-free travel (for stays of up to 90 days in any 180-day period) under the visa liberalisation scheme. The European Union reserves the right to suspend the visa-free regime andintroduce visas for any country that is becoming a migration threat.
